This is an exciting opportunity to lead the Liberty GTS claims function in the Americas. The successful candidate will be dedicated to handling M&A insurance claims, relating primarily to Reps & Warranties policies. The role will include directing coverage investigations, setting adequate reserves, monitoring, documenting, and leading negotiations to settle/close claims in an expeditious and economical manner. Other responsibilities will include promoting the Liberty GTS claims function in the Americas and working closely with senior management and other key stakeholders to ensure the effective and timely feedback of claims trends and developments.
Analyzes, investigates, and evaluates M&A insurance claims from point of notification through to claim disposition. Within prescribed settlement authority, establishes appropriate reserves for both indemnity and expense and reviews on a regular basis to ensure adequacy. Makes recommendations to set reserves at appropriate level for claims outside of authority level. Prepares comprehensive reports as required. Identifies and communicates specific claim trends and account and/or policy issues to management and underwriting. Manages the litigation process through the retention of counsel where appropriate. Adheres to the line of business litigation guidelines to include budget, bill review and payment. Pro-actively manages the case resolution process. Actively directs mediations and arbitrations, as well as negotiation discussions within limit of settlement authority. Participates in the claims audit process. Provides claims marketing services by meeting with and presenting to brokers, risk managers and reinsurers.
The successful candidate will be a skilled litigator with a legal background and an aspiration to grow and manage a highly specialized claims team. An understanding of Reps & Warranties insurance and experience of handling M&A claims, whether in private practice or an in-house environment, is essential. The role requires advanced knowledge of claims handling concepts, practices and techniques, to include but not limited to coverage issues, and product line knowledge. Demonstrated superior verbal and written communications skills. Highest level of advanced analytical, decision making and negotiation skills.
